What is a
Developmental
Relationship-based
approach?

Developmental Relationship-based Interventions (DRBI) value and utilize an individual's strengths, interests, and strongest relationships to help their overall development.

The DIR (Developmental, Individual Difference, Relationship-based) model is comprised of 16 social emotional developmental capacities. Child & Family Development uses the DIR model in conjunction with sensory integration strategies in order to better integrate emotional processing with sensory experiences.

COMPONENTS OF DIR/FLOORTIME

DIRFLOORTIME THERAPY

DIRFloortime therapy is a child-centered approach that focuses on building relationships and promoting emotional development. Our therapists use this method to engage children in play-based activities that encourage positive interaction and communication.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

We believe that communication is key to building strong relationships. Our therapists work with children to develop communication skills that will help them connect with others and thrive in social situations.

SENSORY INTEGRATION THERAPY

Sensory integration therapy is a key component of our services. Our therapists work with children to improve their ability to process sensory information, leading to increased self-regulation and improved behavior.

EMOTIONAL REGULATION

Learning to regulate emotions is an important part of child development. Our therapists use a variety of techniques to help children learn to manage their emotions and express themselves in healthy ways.

SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES

We understand that caring for a child with developmental challenges can be overwhelming. That's why we offer support for families, including counseling and resources to help manage stress and navigate the challenges of raising a child with special needs.

PLAY-BASED/CHILD-LED THERAPY

We believe that play is the foundation for learning and growth. Our therapists use play-based therapy to engage children in fun and interactive activities that promote learning and development.

PARENT COACHING

We work closely with parents to provide coaching and support, helping them to understand their child's needs and develop strategies for promoting growth and development.
